La Floridita Limited Edition

Hello everyone, recently I was contacted by email from a representative from Famous Cigars asking me if I would be interested in reviewing some cigars for them. Of course I said “Yes” and a ten pack was mailed containing their “Best of the House Sampler” for me to review. Today, I selected the La Floridita Limited Edition to review. So with the stick revealed, I’m ready to give you my verdict on whether it passes the mighty “Stew” test or not.

CIGAR MAKE UP:

WRAPPER: Brazilian Mata Fina

BINDER & FILLER: Indonesian / Nicaragua & Mexican

Length/Ring: 5 x 60

Shape: Robusto

Strength: Medium

Price: I paid $0.00, but it’s listed at $5.75 for a single-stick

My Observations: The cigar is rolled pretty well with some minor imperfections  that I spotted on my leaf wrapper check. The veins on this baby are rather large  but seemed to blend in well with the makeup of this creature. On my finger touch inspection, I found no soft spots and the cigar wrapper gave off a rich spicy pleasant smell. Finally, I found the cap to be placed a bit sloppy. Over all “B” in the grading department.

Cigar Label: I found the label to be average in the appearance department. I say this because there really isn’t anything eye-catching about it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad but I can see someone passing right by it if they weren’t looking for it. The colors consist of a black background with maroon edging, and silver lettering.

Snip: Straight cut.

Pre-Draw: Very earthy with a perfect draw.

Flavors: The 1st third of this cigar consisted of earth and spice. The 2nd third continued with these flavors but was joined by an espresso type flavor. The last third continued with these flavors but the spice takes over for the finish.

Draw: Perfect

Burn line: Even.

Liked it: Yes

Recommend it: Yes, it’s a good smoke at the price of $5.75 a stick!

Hint: Maybe some aging would add some extra flavors.

Over All

Until Next Time

  1. Wow, I just smoked one of these yesterday for the first time. I have nothing to add, totally agree with your review. Apparently our palates were separated at birth. Best, Wes

  2. Thanks for the review on the La Floridita LE. If you liked that one, wait until you try the La Floridita Fuerte. They really rock. Interesting that you also comment on the bands. You don’t see that very often. Keep up the good work and thanks again for the post.
