CAO CX2 “Robusto”

Hello everyone, today I am conducting round three of the Famous Cigars “Best of the House Sampler” . Today, I selected the CAO CX2 to review. So with the stick revealed, I’m ready to give you my verdict on whether it passes the mighty “Stew” test or not.

CIGAR MAKE UP:

WRAPPER: Cameroon

BINDER & FILLER: Cameroon / Nicaragua

Length/Ring: 5 x 52

Shape: Robusto

Strength: Medium

Price: I paid $0.00, but it’s listed at $20.95 for a five pack on Famous

My Observations: This cigar is very nice to look at with it’s medium brown leaf wrapper and small non noticeable veins. To tell you the truth, I really didn’t expect anything less from CAO and of course I was not disappointed.

On my finger touch inspection, I found the wrapper to be oily and smooth. I found no soft spots or imperfections as I twirled the cigar through my fingers. Finally, I found the cap to have been placed dead center. Over all “A” in the grading department.

Cigar Label: Very nice with its maroon and gold colors.

Snip: Straight cut.

Pre-Draw: Woodsy.

Flavors: The 1st third of this cigar consisted of a creamy buttery taste that was accompanied with a woodsy flavor. The 2nd third continued with buttery taste, wood, and was joined with molasses. The last third continued with these flavors that was joined with a bonus flavor of peanuts.

Draw: Smooth

Burn line: A bit jagged at times.

Liked it: Yes

Recommend it: Yes

Hint: None

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992

Hello everyone, long time no see “huh?” Well this is due to your host taking a vacation and then battling allergies on top of  cold. Fun, fun, fun I must say but I’m back so let’s see what I’m smoking now. I decided to take a break from the Famous five pack challenge and go with the Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 to review. So with the history behind us, its time to get into this review.

CIGAR MAKE UP:

WRAPPER: Ecuadorian Sumatra

BINDER & FILLER: Nicaraguan / Dominican & Nicarauguan

Length/Ring: 6.5 X 52

Shape: Toro

Strength:Medium

Price: I paid $ 9.50.

My Observations: This cigar has a wonderful dark chocolate leaf wrapper that has small non noticable veins. Trust me this is a true gem to the eye and if this smoke is anything like its appearance, we are in for a great ride. On a closer inspection, I found no imperfections and found the cap to be perfectly centered. On my finger touch inspection, I found no soft spots.

Cigar Label: Rocky changed this label to black and gold so that the consumer can now tell the difference from the 1990. I believe he made the right choice and picked colors that truly honor this fantastic cigar. Ooops, I think I just gave away my view of this cigar. Sorry!

Snip: Straight cut.

Pre-Draw: Smooth and spicy.

Flavors: The 1st third of this cigar consisted of a rich complex spicy flavor that  wows your palate. The 2nd third continued with the spicy and coffee but was joined with hints of caramel. The last third continued with these flavors and I can see why this use to be Rocky’s favorite cigar.

Draw:Smooth.

Burn line: Perfect.

Liked it: Yes

Recommend it: Yes

Hint: Smoke this one, you will thank me later.
